As one of Germany's first biotech companies, PROGEN was founded in 1983 by four scientists in Heidelberg as a spin-off from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the University of Heidelberg, brought together by a shared passion for producing high-quality antibodies.
Four decades into this industry, our team and product portfolio has grown and changed, however, our passion remains unwavering. In addition to our high-quality antibodies, today we also offer analytical tools to help accelerate the development of new therapies and optimize research processes within the gene therapy field - safely, quickly, and affordably.

In 2025, we earned My Green Lab Certification with a score of 83% at the Green Level. It’s considered the gold standard for lab sustainability, providing a quantitative sustainability score based on comprehensive audits and assessments across 14 key areas.
Quality Assurance
Commitment to quality has always been a focus from day one. Becoming quality assured and DIN EN ISO 13485 certifified from 2010 onwards was and remains an important milestone for the team at PROGEN.
